Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Ait Benhaddou → Dades Valley
Our odyssey begins as we pick you up from your Marrakech accommodation. We ascend into the clouds, crossing the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2260m). The dramatic views give way to the historic Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the backdrop for many famous films. After exploring this ancient fortress, we continue through Ouarzazate, the « Gateway to the Desert, » and along the « Road of a Thousand Kasbahs » to reach the stunning Dades Valley, where we’ll spend the night in a charming guesthouse nestled among the rock formations.
Day 1 :
Dades Valley → Todra Gorge → Merzouga & Camel Trek into the Sahara
After breakfast, we’ll admire the unique « monkey fingers » rock formations of the Dades before heading to the Todra Gorge. Here, you can walk alongside the crystal-clear river as towering canyon walls rise 300 meters above you. We then travel through a landscape that becomes progressively more desert-like until we reach Merzouga, the gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes. Here, your camels await. You’ll embark on a timeless trek into the sea of golden sand, witnessing a breathtaking sunset over the dunes before arriving at your traditional Berber desert camp for a magical night of dinner, local music, and stargazing.
Day 2 :
Merzouga → Draa Valley → Ouarzazate
Awake early to the silence of the desert and witness a spectacular sunrise, as the dunes come alive with a palette of soft morning colors. After a traditional breakfast at the camp, you will ride your camel back to Merzouga to meet your driver. Today, our journey takes us along a different path, following the ancient caravan route through the vast and beautiful Draa Valley. This lush oasis is home to the longest river in Morocco, lined with millions of palm trees and dotted with historic kasbahs. We will end our day in Ouarzazate, a hub of both desert culture and the film industry.
Day 3 :
Ouarzazate → High Atlas Mountains → Marrakech
After breakfast, you’ll have time to visit the famous Atlas Film Studios (optional) or the Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate. We then begin our final, spectacular drive back to Marrakech, once again crossing the High Atlas Mountains. We will make several stops for you to stretch your legs and take in the last of the magnificent views before descending from the mountains. We will drop you off at your accommodation in the late afternoon, your heart full of desert memories from an unforgettable Saharan Odyssey.
Day 4 :
Marrakech City Tour
A day in Marrakech is a journey through centuries of history, vibrant culture, and hidden oases. Begin at Jemaa el-Fnaa, the pulsating heart of the city where snake charmers, storytellers, and musicians animate the square by day before it transforms into a dazzling food market at night. Step into the Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and wander its maze of souks brimming with spices, carpets, and crafts. Seek tranquility in the lush Jardin Majorelle, with its striking cobalt blue and Yves Saint Laurent’s legacy, or retreat to the serene Jardin Secret tucked inside the Medina. Continue your exploration at the Bahia Palace, where courtyards and mosaics evoke 19th-century splendor, and admire the intricate artistry of the Medersa Ben Youssef. The towering Koutoubia Mosque and the rediscovered Saadian Tombs offer glimpses into the city’s spiritual and dynastic past, while the ruins of the El Badi Palace whisper of former grandeur and provide sweeping views over Marrakech. Together, these landmarks make for a rich, unforgettable day in Morocco’s “Red City.”
